Climbing the digital walls

As a VR enthusiast, I’ve wanted for a long time to figure out how to create my own immersive digital spaces. Looked at Unity and other authoring tools, but haven’t really dedicated the time to learning them or getting started… that is until last December when I finally sat down to spend some time focusing on this idea. I saw a post on Facebook from a guy who made a digital model of his home in SketchUp, then ported it over to Unity and explored it in VR. I sat down and worked my way through all the SketchUp Fundamental tutorials (which are GREAT and reminded me that a long time ago I learned CAD for my high school job at CE Crowley & Associates). So for the past few months I’ve been creating my little virtual world based on my real world. It’s so relaxing and enjoyable, I can’t even tell you. Eventually I’ll get to the part where I go from SketchUp to Unity. Stay tuned!
