Imagine taking center stage in one of your favorite roles. Now you can! In The Show is a VR experience that allows you and your virtual cast members to perform together in the metaverse. Why be in the audience when you can be In The Show?!
How It Works
Step 1: Audition.
You pick the show you’d like to audition for, choose your scene, and prepare in your own virtual studio. You can audition solo or with friends.
Step 2: Rehearse.
You’ve been cast! Time to hit the rehearsal room. You and your cast will run your scene together, focusing on getting off book and nailing your blocking.
Step 3: Showtime!
It’s time to put on makeup! It’s time to light the lights! It’s opening night and you and your cast will perform in front of an audience for the first time!
Why This Project Will Succeed
Player appeal:
Millions of people have experienced performing in a show at some point in their life, and millions more have dreamed of doing so. In The Show will give the amateur performer a literal (though virtual) stage to live out their fantasies. Think Guitar Hero or Rock Band but for theater.
Show appeal:
Broadway wants to be part of the metaverse, both to engage existing fans and grow new audiences. In The Show will allow shows to license their content and generate revenue as players choose to embody their favorite characters. It will also open new digital marketing channels and enrich CRM.

Project Roadmap
1. Discovery
I will define the initial parameters of the experience, write some possible user journeys, explore the formation of the project team, and evaluate the landscape of different social VR platforms that currently exist. I will also build some rough environments in Unity and Altspace (eg. rehearsal studio) to get potential stakeholders and team members excited about the project.
2. Definition
The solidified project team will work together to answer the following questions:
Should we build from scratch or integrate with an existing virtual ecosystem?
If we integrate, which platform is best suited?
What needs to be built in either scenario?
How are we building with accessibility in mind?
What IP can we license and how will we and our partners make money?
3. Build
We will develop a vertical slice demo that can be experienced in VR. This will allow us to secure additional support that will bring In The Show to life!
Who will you choose to be In The Show?
